THIS photo of Joe Robinson was taken in a studio shoot in Nashville, where the 17-year-old is recording his new album.
The teenage guitar sensation from Temagog is hot property at the moment following his win in the national television program Australia’s Got Talent early last month.
He headed to Nashville with his mother Cath soon after, where he is recording his new album with producer Frank Rogers.
“I’ve been learning and absorbing all the great music here, and have been sitting in with some of the best players in town, so its very inspiring,” Joe said from Nashville.
When he returns to Australia this month he will be busy performing, with gigs including the AFL Grand Final dinner in Adelaide on September 26. Joe then hits the road, touring with Phil Emmanuel and Kevin Borich in October.
He is booked to fly to Thailand and open for Tommy Emmanuel, in between perform- ing at the Noosa Jazz Festival, Wingham Acoustic Festival and the Bridgetown Blues Festival in Western Australia.
Last week Joe started recording his new album, in a recording studio south of Nashville called The Castle.
“It’s an actual castle that was built in the 1920s by Al Capone and his crew and was used as their hideout on their runs between Chicago and Miami,” Cath Robinson told The Argus.
She said a photographer had been booked to photograph Joe in The Castle this week and the Country Music Channel is recording a documentary of Joe recording in the historic building.
The new album will be mostly original tunes written by Joe and will include some guest artists, including Tommy Emmanuel.
While in the US Joe has been busy playing, including one performance with legendary guitarist Les Paul in New York where the teenager received a standing ovation.
“Joe is playing everything from bluegrass to jazz and everything in between,” Cath said, and despite the excitement she added her and Joe were looking forward to coming home.
On Friday, October 3, Joe will be back performing in Kempsey with a concert at the Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club.
